Patient Centered Medical Home

Welcome to your patient-centered medical home!

Georgia Southern University Health Services is pleased to announce that we have received recognition by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC) as a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH). This is the highest achievement for primary care. It is a mark of excellence honoring the fact that Georgia Southern University Health Services adopts best practices and complies with nationally recognized standards of care. For our student patients, it provides comforting reassurance that they will receive high-quality care when they need it.

What is a patient-centered medical home? With a patient-centered medical home model (PCMH), you are at the center of your healthcare team and all team members are dedicated to keeping you healthy. You will receive comprehensive, continuous care whether you need preventive care, wellness care or acute care, your needs will be carefully coordinated.  And don’t forget the most important person on the team—YOU! The goal of the team is to provide you with the best care possible including convenient access to your Student Health Center healthcare professionals.

 Accreditation

Georgia Southern University Health Services is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC.)

What Does Accreditation Mean for My Care?

Whether you are getting ready to undergo a laceration repair, have a women’s health physical or something in between, your health care choices matter. You should feel empowered to ask your medical provider questions, not only about his or her personal credentials and training, but also about the practice as a whole.

What is AAAHC?

AAAHC, or the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc., is a private, non-profit organization formed in 1979 to assist ambulatory health care organizations in improving the quality of care provided to patients. It accomplishes this by establishing, reviewing, and revising standards, measuring performance and providing consultation and education.

What is accreditation?

Accreditation by AAAHC means that GSU Health Services has undergone a thorough, independent survey of its policies and practices against nationally-recognized standards. The accreditation process involves self-assessment by the organization, followed by an on-site review conducted by AAAHC surveyors, who are themselves health care professionals.

AAAHC accreditation is an indicator that GSU Health Services is committed to providing high-quality care and that it has demonstrated its commitment through an on-going process of self-evaluation, peer review and education to continuously improve its care and services.

 Patient Satisfaction Surveys

We expect to be accountable to students and the larger University community through regular patient satisfaction surveys and meeting internal performance standards. This survey has been utilized for several years as an important tool for patient feedback, resulting in improved patient experiences and quality of care.

Award of Excellence

Health Service has been a recipient of the coveted Georgia Southern University President’s Staff Team Award for Excellence in Service to Students. This award is given annually to the departmental staff team identified as giving consistently excellent service to students. We are particularly pleased with this award since students play a key role in the selection process.
