NRHHlogoW-01 (6)-min (1)

Mission Statement

The purpose of this organization shall be to recognize those individuals who have demonstrated positive leadership and outstanding service to residence hall life at Georgia Southern University and to serve as a stimulus for developing residence hall involvement. NRHH will serve as the primary outlet for service and recognition initiatives for University Housing. Through these stated purposes, the NRHH strives to improve the quality of residence hall life on the Georgia Southern University campus.

Service

Members of NRHH participate in various university and community service events. The Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire located in Savannah, Georgia is our chapter philanthropy. We service this organization by collecting soda pop tabs which are traded for money to help provide services for patients and their families. We also visit the house occasionally to prepare dinner for the families or bring them needed supplies.

Additionally, we serve our local community. NRHH members participate in a golf cart program that assists the elderly and physically challenged with attending home football games and by hosting two annual events for neighboring families. Our NRHH chapter also hosts two large-scale annual events for the local community in the residence halls which include Hall-O-Ween and Eggstravaganza.

Leadership

Students and University Faculty/Staff members are inducted into our chapter bi-annually. Our students are leaders within their communities and organizations. Our members serve on committees within our chapter to develop recognition, service, and leadership initiatives. In addition, the executive board hosts educational and developmental programs throughout the semester for NRHH members. Our members host presentations throughout the year, collaborate with campus organizations, and attended various conferences sponsored by the  South Atlantic Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls and National Association of  College and University Residence Halls, Incorporated.

Recognition: Of The Month Awards

Our chapter recognizes excellence on our campus through the national “Of The Month” award program. Each month, we ask for members of the campus community to nominate people and programs for these awards. Campus winners are selected by our members and then sent on to participate in regional and national award selection monthly. In addition, we coordinate special events of recognition for various groups within the Department of University Housing and Georgia Southern University.
