Bio – Derrick Davis

Director of Parking and Transportation

Education: MIS Degree from Savannah State University 1991

After working in finance for years and owning a family photography and video business for nearly 10 years, Derrick embarked on his auxiliary services journey with a career start at Savannah College of Art and Design. For 2.5 years, he was a Technical Operations Manager in their ID Card Office, managing their campus card, meal plans, parking citation payments, equestrian billing, and monitoring the SCAD Card program that is accepted at 120 businesses in downtown Savannah.

Derrick later accepted a position with Savannah State University, where he worked in Parking and Transportation as the Parking Manager and Risk & Compliance Manager for 4 years. Currently, Derrick serves as the Director of Parking and Transportation for Georgia Southern and for almost 5 years and continues to effectively manage parking operations on the Statesboro, Savannah & Liberty campuses. Georgia Southern has 4 LPR cars, issue virtual permits, issue e-citations to customers’ GS email, and use a web-based app with 300 Pay-to-park spaces.  Derrick and his team are always looking to innovate and increase efficiency with new parking technologies.  

He is married to his college sweetheart, and the two share three children, Lauren, Rachel and Caleb.
