Quick Bio: Richie Akins has over 25 years of experience at Georgia Southern University. Currently, he is the Director of Financial Accounting for Auxiliary Services. Richie began his career as a Textbook Buyer and became the Assistant Manager of the University Store in 1990, where he assisted the manager in the daily operations of textbooks and accounting. In 1998, Richie was appointed Assistant Director of Stores and Shops, a role similar to that of a “Manager”, where he took the direct responsibility for the operations, budgeting, and analysis of business operations of the University Store.
It was then in 2005, when he served as the Interim Director of Stores and Shops, that he provided leadership to the Stores and Shops Division of Auxiliary Services such as the University Store, Tech Corner, Eagle Print Shop, Auxiliary Service Distribution Center and College Optical Express.
As the Director of Stores and Shops at Georgia Southern, he has provided leadership to the Stores and Shops Division with annual sales in excess of $10 million and profits in excess of $1 million, he has expanded the rotation of textbook buyback to multiple companies and gained national-level recognition as a top performer in the purchase and sale of used textbook.
Richie now leads Auxiliary Services financial efforts in ensuring budgets are accurate and thorough.
