Health Promotions to take place this September

Join Health Services for a variety of health promotions throughout the month of September. All events* are included in your student health fee each semester.

  • Get your Flu Vaccine!
It’s that time of year again…flu season! Help prevent the spread of the virus by getting your vaccination at Health Services on the Statesboro and Armstrong campuses. Statesboro Campus flu shot hours are Mon-Fri, 9-11 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. in the Health Services Pharmacy. Armstrong Campus flu shot hours are Mon-Fri, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30-5 p.m. in the Armstrong Health Center.
  • National Suicide Prevention Week: Messages of Hope
Support National Suicide Prevention Week by writing “messages of hope” on rocks that will be displayed at various locations around campus. Spread the word! Participate Sept. 10-14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Statesboro Campus and Sept. 17-21 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Armstrong Campus.
  • Workout with your Servicemen and Women (WOW), Statesboro Campus
On Sept. 11, join ROTC, Health Services, the Counseling Center, CRI personal trainers and Team Eagle in a PT-style workout to support and honor our servicemen and women while raising awareness for trauma and mental health. Plus, learn how you can give support to our campus community with “Messages of Hope” from 6 to 7 p.m. at the RAC Pavilion.
  • Wellness Retreat
Health is the state of your body, but wellness is the state of your being. Join the Counseling Center and Health Services for a Wellness Retreat. Explore the mind-body connection through breathing exercises, meditation, pet therapy, myofascial release, yoga and meditative artwork. No previous experience is needed. You need only an openness to self-awareness and new experiences. Learn how stabilizing your body can lead to stabilizing your emotional self. This free event will take place Friday, Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Counseling Center on the Statesboro Campus. Pre-registration is required for the event.
  • Prisoner of War Remembrance Table
The tradition of setting a separate table in honor of our prisoners of war and missing comrades has been in place since the end of the Vietnam War. The manner in which this table is decorated is full of special symbols to help recognize these heroes. Stop by the table from Sept. 17-21 at Chick-fil-A on the Statesboro Campus and the Perk on the Armstrong Campus.
  • Workout with your Servicemen and Women (WOW), Armstrong Campus
On Sept. 24, join Health Services, the Counseling Center, veterans, Team Eagle and CRI personal trainers for 30 minutes of restorative yoga coupled with gait analysis and injury consultations. Support and honor our servicemen and women while raising awareness for trauma and mental health. Learn how you can give support to our campus community from 6 to 7 p.m. in the SSC Ballroom C.
*These events are intended for all Georgia Southern University students who have paid the student health fee that semester. An Eagle Card may be required for some events.
