Dr. Andrea E. Thomas, OD, ABO

Dr. Andrea E. Thomas earned her undergraduate degree from Georgia Southern University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She received her Optometric Doctorate from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee.  She received the honor of membership into the Golden Key International Optometric Honor Society and served as their Secretary. She also served at the International level as the Secretary.

Dr. Thomas is a member of the American Optometric Association as well a member of New Mexico Optometric Association and Georgia Optometric Association. She was President, President Elect, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and the Central Area Trustee of the New Mexico Optometric Association. Dr. Thomas was awarded the 2011 – 2012 Young Optometrist of the Year by the New Mexico Optometric Association as well as was awarded the 2008 – 2009 Optometry in Action Award for outstanding community service by the New Mexico Optometric Association.

Dr. Thomas has been the Healthy Eyes Healthy People consultant for New Mexico as well as the InfantSee Liaison. She was nominated by the New Mexico Governor as a member of the Department of Health’s Children’s Vision Screening committee in June 2008.

Dr. Thomas moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico upon graduation from Southern College of Optometry.  There she started her private practice until joining the Eagle Eye Care team in July 2016. She has a special interest in contact lenses and ocular disease.

Dr. Thomas is a board certified optometric physician with certifications in Medical Therapeutics and Minor Surgical Procedures. She is also a Diplomat of the American Board of Optometry.
