Graduate Assistant Positions


Between the Armstrong and Statesboro campuses, University Housing employs 17 graduate students to serve as either Graduate Assistants for Residence Education or Graduate Resident Directors. Georgia Southern’s College of Graduate Studies requires candidates to be accepted into a Master’s Program at Georgia Southern before being offered an assistantship. We encourage candidates accepted into the Master’s of Education in Higher Education Administration program or related programs to apply. The general hiring process can be found below. Recruitment & Selection Process:

  • For new staff members – Incoming (new to the department) graduate staff members are recruited through several professional and University-wide platforms. University Housing participates in the Oshkosh Placement Exchange (OPE), the Graduate Assistant Placement Program, and the College of Graduate Studies assistantship portal. Qualified candidates are offered an interview by current professional and graduate students. Per Georgia Southern College of Graduate Studies’ guidelines, University Housing cannot offer employment to any candidate until a candidate has been accepted into a graduate program at Georgia Southern.

Recruitment Process (Returning Staff):

Current graduate staff members that would like to return to one of the graduate assistantships available in University Housing will be notified of the interview process via their staff email address.
