OMI: What to Bring

Here’s a quick list of item suggestions for what you can bring to campus when you move in. We’ve also included a list of items not to bring with you, as they don’t adhere to residence hall rules and regulations.

What to Bring

  • Bedroom/Closet Curtains (must be fire retardant) (tension shower rod to hang)

Eligible to Bring

The following list contains items which are pre-approved for use in Centennial Place, Compass Point, Eagle Village, Freedom’s Landing, Kennedy Super Suites, Southern Courtyard, and Southern Pines only. These items must be UL listed.

  • Electric griddle
  • George Forman type grill
  • Panini press
  • Quesadilla maker
  • Rice cooker
  • Slow cookers/Crock pots
  • Toaster oven
  • Waffle iron

What not to Bring

The following items are not permitted for use in any residence halls.

  • Alcohol (permitted if over 21 and labeled)
  • Alcohol paraphernalia including shot glasses
  • Bed risers
  • Candles/incense
  • Charcoal/gas grill
  • Deep fryers
  • Drugs
  • Electrical decorations (neon signs)
  • Electric scooters/hover boards
  • Extension cords
  • Large fabric items (items cannot exceed 3 feet by 5 feet in size)
  • Martial arts equipment
  • Microwaves (Watson Residents may bring one microwave per unit)
  • Mini fridge (permitted at Armstrong but must 4.0 cubic feet or less)
  • Pets (Service and Emotional Support Animals permitted if allowed by law and university policy)
  • Plugin fragrance warmers
  • Portable heaters
  • Rope lighting/LED light strips
  • Street signs, traffic signals, construction materials, etc
  • Toaster
  • Weapons
  • Wireless routers/access points
