What to Bring

Moving to Statesboro will be exciting, but it’s also hard work. To help, current Georgia Southern students have helped to create the following list of items you may want to bring and also items that you should leave at home. For more information, a more specific selection of lists are available below including items you should consider bringing with you.

  • Sheets*
  • Pillow and Pillowcase
  • Bedspread or comforter
  • Mattress Pad
  • Blanket
  • Egg Crate (foam mattress topper)

*Freedom’s Landing, Southern Courtyard, Southern Pines, and University Villas residents need full sized (Double) sheets. Residents of Eagle Village, Kennedy, and Watson should purchase Extra Long (XL) 80″ twin sheets. For residents of Centennial Place, rooms in Buildings beginning with a 1 or 2 have the extra long (80″) twin sheets, residents of rooms beginning with a 3 or 4 have regular full sized beds.

If you have trouble finding extra long sheets and bedding to fit the beds in some of our residence halls, The Residence Hall Association (RHA) has partnered with Residence Hall Linens to provide parents and students with an easy, affordable option.

If you bring curtains, they need to say that they are fire retardant on the tag.  Fire retardant curtains are easily found on-line.  A variety of stores sell them such as Walmart and Kohl’s.  You can also find them on Amazon.  Curtain rods may not be screwed into walls so we recommend tension rods that can be placed within the window casement.
