Fall 2024 Parking Permits Available May 1, 2024

Students will be able to purchase parking permits for the Fall 2024 term beginning at 8 am Wednesday, May 1, 2024. For this term, students will have a number of new options for parking and transportation on the Statesboro and Armstrong Campuses for a uniform parking rate of $130 with the added benefit of no waitlisting for purchases.

Parking permits are not required on the Liberty Campus. However, Liberty students can purchase parking permits for either the Armstrong or Statesboro Campuses. 

New Walmart Shopping Shuttle 

New for Fall 2024, Parking & Transportation will pilot a Walmart Shopping Shuttle. The shuttle will pickup at the Rec Center Intercampus Shuttle Pick-up location on the Armstrong Campus and drop off at the Wal-Mart Super Center located at 14030 Abercorn Street and vice versa. The shuttle will run from 6 pm to 9 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Parking Services will monitor participation throughout the Fall 2024 semester and base future offerings on student interest in this service. 

Zone Concept for Statesboro Commuter Permits 

Beginning Fall 2024, students will have new Commuter options and flexibility with regard to their parking options. By implementing the Zone concept for Commuters. Commuter permits are no longer “lot specific” but rather zone specific. You can only pick ONE ZONE. There are 3 zones, this means if you purchase a Zone 1 permit you can park in lot 11, 13, 21, 12, RAC, and the football stadium.

Zone 1: Lots 11, 13, and 21

Zone 2: Lots 29, 30, 31 and 32

Zone 3: Lot 42

LOT 41: AMP and Faculty and Staff (ONLY)

ALL GSU PERMIT HOLDERS can also park at the RAC or Lot 12 (near the softball field, off of Fair Rd.) and the Paulson Football Stadium. Please remember that library parking is free after 5:30pm and commuter lots after 4 pm.


FALL 2024-2025 PERMIT UPDATES

Commuter permit changes are as follows. Commuter permits are no longer “lot specific” but rather zone specific. There are 3 zones, this means if you purchase a Zone 1 permit you can park in lot 11, 13, 21, 12, RAC, and the football stadium.

  • Commuter and Residential Permits have been reduced to $130 faculty and staff permits remain the same.
  • Armstrong permits have been increased to $130 but this includes the accommodation of parking in any COMMUTER zone on either campus. Armstrong residential permits can park in any COMMUTER zone on the STATESBORO campus, but must adhere to residential rules in Savannah. Statesboro Commuter permits can park in any COMMUTER lot on the ARMSTRONG campus.
  • There is no reduced lot or RAC permit, all GSU permit holders can park in either lot with a valid GSU parking permit.
  • Residential permits have been reduced to $130. Residential permit holders must purchase a permit for the dorm they will be living in. Please note there are overflow for each dormitory hall.

  • No permit is required in commuter lots after 4pm.
  • Graduating seniors can receive their permits at half price with a graduating certification letter from the enrollment office.
  • GA’s, TA’s and RA’s may receive faculty and staff permits with permission from COGS via Mary Jernigan.

Intercampus Shuttle Changes Effective Jan. 29

Beginning Monday, Jan. 29, Georgia Southern faculty, staff and students will have new transportation options available to them. Based on user feedback, the Intercampus Shuttle schedule has been optimized for the Spring 2024 term.

The Intercampus Shuttle that travels between our Statesboro and Armstrong campuses each day will now operate on an optimized schedule based on input from shuttle passengers. The new schedule will be effective Monday, Jan. 29:

Please allow approximately one hour and 15 minutes for each trip between campuses. The Intercampus Shuttle is a free service for Georgia Southern faculty, staff, and students. Students Access CAT Shuttles for Free 

Chatham County’s public transit system (CAT) is launching a zero-fare pilot program for all students in Chatham County, which includes all Georgia Southern students. This program will allow students to use all fixed route and paratransit buses in Savannah at no cost. 

To utilize the CAT system, students will simply need to show their Eagle ID (physical card or mobile ID) at boarding. Students can also view maps, track bus routes, and download the CATTracker App at catchacat.org.

STADIUM OVER FLOW PARKING

Over flow parking for the football stadium HAS ENDED in lots 29 and the RAC. You must have a permit to park in lot 29 and the RAC. Free parking is still available at the football stadium but only on the PAVED area. If you park in the grass, you will receive a citation. You can purchase your permit online or at the parking office.
